Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered problems to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing protection systems and implementing penalties," he wrote in a online statement.

He said that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area came under heavy assaults throughout the evening. A young boy lost their life and three other people were wounded.

The attacks succeed nights of air raids in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
